1. Crew

the crew on the boat or on the vessel is dividing into two teams the production team and the testing team ; the production team are consists of 2 personnels who are responsible on the tower, the testing team consists of 4 personnels who are responsible on the vessel, every one knows his duty and his tools.


2. production operator procedures

the production team have to do some steps on the tower to prepare the well for testing as following:

  1. first, we should isolate the sea lines ; to avoid any trip may happen in case something went wrong.
  2. we should inform the testing team which is the reinjection line and which is the testing header.
  3. opening the RTU
  4. then we start to take a survey on all wells pressure and sea lines on the tower from thier sensors by running the RTU.
    • sensors
    • temperature of the line
    • sound of the flow
    • stem of the ddraulic valves
    • well choke if it close or open condition
    • panel guage has pressure or no
  5. after that we have to check if the wells are flowing or no and informing.
  6. closing the MPFM(MultiPhase Flow Meter) that line that testing a well from the complex
    • check if any well is opened on testing line and its production valve is closed
    • check if the inlet and outlet vlaves for the MPFM are open or closed
  7. isolating the pannel for the Christmas tree and hP (high Pilot) and LP (LOw Pilot)
  8. rigging up the sea line guage/hose and well head hose.
  9. after the testing team finish rig up the line we ask for starting diverting the flow to the vessel by openning the reinjection valve before opening the testing valve and closing the production valve and o
  10. we monitor the sea line gauge
  11. if they need to adjust the choke of the well we adjust by opening and closing well choke untill we got the target pressure
  12. while rig down we diverting the line from testing to production by openning first before closing. (when we are doing flow test only) inversed closing production valve first before opening testing valve
  13. finally we close the reinjection line and deisolating the sea line hydraulic valves puting all needle valves on normal position in service , re opening MPFM , deisolating xmass-tree hydraulic needle valves
  14. eventually rig down or maybe we can do only partial rig down.
  15. note while rig up sealine hose check that if there is a chemical pump

5. testing procedures

  1. once we rig up reinjection & Testing coflexip hose
  2. close Equalizer between the two coflexip hose (inlet & outlet of the boat)
  3. close chokemnifold
  4. open reinjection valve on Boat landing
  5. open testing and reinjection valve on Boat landing
  6. line up testing vessel for testing
    • open oil bypass to avoid any debris blocking oil meter
    • closing water line
    • bypass gas line to production
    • open ESD upstream and downstream
  7. gradually open choke manifold to avoid any hydration or well die then open both sides full open
  8. once tower men divert
  9. setting separator by checking flow rate & separator pressure
  10. Stabilize oil rate and get zero meter
  11. Run orifice plate
  12. start testing and taking reading
    • WHP
    • WHT
    • SLP
    • Sep. Press.
    • Sep. Temp.
    • check level and rate
    • Diff. Press.
    • total flow reading
    • interval reading
  13. taking all data samples:
    • BSW
    • Water SG if BSW more than 10%
    • API
    • shrinkage
    • Gas SG
    • CO2
    • H2S
  14. after taking four or five reading close fixed side of choke manifold
  15. Making Simulation for the adjustable choke until
    • whp change
    • or hearing a flow disturb with sound in line
    • check Diff. press. if there is any change
  16. once wellhead hose and sealine hose are connected to their guages flush it

6. Unloading procedures

  • chokemanifold is shut-in and adjustable choke size is 24 or 30
  • Run reinjection pump
  • open hydraulic ball valve
  • open outline separator valve going to re-injection pump
  • open suction and discharge valve
  • pump on neutral
  • gas line is lined-up to burner boom
  • open reinjection valve
  • open water line to pump through but before lineup bypass first to flush the line from any debris comming from the well
  • isolate lcv full open
  • run orifice plate size 2"
  • lineup from separator to pump

Notes while unloading
  • check level of sight glass
  • check propotional band in the liquid fisher
  • check hydraulic plungers
  • check separator pressure
  • check outlet of pump gas guage
  • check reinjection hose vibration
  • check BSW

  • choke with handle of gate valve 22 rounds
  • choke with ball valve 1/4 round
  • Electrical choke and it is operated from complex


tools and things on the tower

  1. a Riser on sealine
    • it is a riser standing or set on the sealine
    • it is cracked open to get only small pressure of gas
    • it is riser to get only gas no oil
  2. Suddle tank
    • is a small tank set on sealine filled with hydraulic oil
    • set on sealine to raise temperature of the hydraulic oil to avoid hidration to avoid blocking the tubing
  3. air scrapper
    • recieving th gas coming from raiser passingby suddle tank and collecting it
    • supplying the tower panel with that gas to run it
  4. panels working with gas or air
    • it is a pneomatic pump working with air or gas
    • pumping hydraulic oil to all the wells to open hydraulic valves

Rig Up

there is a procedures for boat rig-up:-

  • check length of the slings
  • check cross-over type
  • checking with tower operator which is testing header and which is re-injection header
  • rig up boat landing cross-over
  • rig up swivels or chiksan
  • rig up Re-injection coflexip hose first
  • then rig up testing coflexip hose
  • check that the needle valves for cross-over are closed

  • slowly closing the adjustable chokemanifold valve
  • once you hear a change in the flow sound
  • check if there is any change in well head pressure or downstream pressure
  • check Differential pressure or BARTON Chart for any change
  • once any change that means an indication for the well choke size and you have to stop closing
  • open choke fully again both sides
  • open Differential equalizer
  • lift the orifice
